Frankenstein
or The modern Prometheus
Frankenstein – a live wire society – the myth of the creative human – a story of hubris. Driven by the passion for experiments and by the delight in interaction, professionally trained to make dead material come alive, 4 puppeteers and 2 musicians from 3 generations dare to try and create an amalgamation by means of alchemy, magic and electricity. They combine six artistic approaches to a story, which made the reader’s skin crawl ever since Mary Shelley invented it in 1816 during a visit at Lake Geneva. Ever since the romantic period the creation of the monster has served as a projection screen for diverse fears and longings. The performance is supported by a celestial, infernal, enigmatic music which makes the laboratory boil.
